As Chief Computational Scientist and Director of the High Performance Computing Innovation Center (HPCIC) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Dr. Streitz leads efforts to develop supercomputer applications that address forefront scientific problems by pushing the limits of leadership-class computing. Through the HPCIC, he develops and strengthens collaborations with academic and industrial partners. Dr. Streitz is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a two-time winner of the Gordon Bell Prize for significant achievement in supercomputing. Fred earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Physics from Harvey Mudd College.
Accelerating Cancer Research with Extreme Scale Computing
As technology improves, the speed and power of computing devices increase rapidly, each new generation enabling simulations previously impossible. I will discuss the application of supercomputing to understanding cancer biology and subsequent therapeutics development in support of our collaboration with the National Cancer Institute.
